Can an 18-year-old enter a bar in Korea?
Short answer
In 2026, people born in 2007 or earlier meet Korea’s general alcohol-purchase age rule. Bar or club entry can have separate restrictions.
What to do
- For 2026, compare your birth year with 2007; bring identification showing your date of birth.
- Ask the particular bar or club about entry rules before visiting.
Check before relying on this
- Being accompanied by a parent does not automatically override alcohol-sale restrictions.

Why the birth year matters
The Youth Protection Act excludes people from its under-19 youth definition from January 1 of the year they turn 19. Article 28 prohibits alcohol sales to youths and requires age/identity checks. The 2007 cutoff is calculated for 2026; it is not an individual venue admission guarantee.
Practical detail and remaining limits
The calendar-year exception concerns the statutory youth definition. Show original identification accepted by the venue; a screenshot or a parent's presence should not be assumed sufficient. A later travel year requires recalculating the birth-year cutoff.
