Which number do I call in an emergency in Korea?
Short answer
Call 112 for the police (crime, danger, accidents) and 119 for fire, rescue or an ambulance. If you don't speak Korean, speak English and stay on the line. For non-emergency travel help or interpretation, call 1330.
In an emergency, call 112 or 119 first.
What to do
- If anyone is in danger, call 112 or 119 straight away. Don't stop to look up travel guides.
- Say where you are: an address, the nearest station, or a building or shop name.
- Speak English and stay on the line until an interpreter joins if needed.
- If it is not an emergency, use one of the other numbers listed below.
If that doesn't work
- If you cannot say where you are, read out the nearest station, building or shop sign, or hand the phone to someone nearby.
- From a foreign phone, call 1330 as +82-2-1330.
Check before relying on this
- 1330 is a travel helpline, not an emergency line. In an emergency, call 112 or 119.
