Seoul Trail Route 5: Achasan Mountain

A medium route from the Kkalttakgogae Pass rest area on Yongmasan along the Achasan ridge to Gwangnaru Station. Its theme is “a path linking people and history”: the trail is well kept, with fine views and many historic sites.

Medium

Official Seoul Trail rating: level 2 of 3

Rating systems differ between pages. An official grade follows the operator’s own scale, so an “easy” route can still take over three hours. Compare routes by walking time and distance as well. Getting to and from stations is described separately in each route.

Good to know

  • Stamp boxes: the Kkalttakgogae Pass rest area and the Achasan administrative office. They are outdoors and the ink can dry out, so bring your own ink pad (official advice).
  • As a medium route it includes mountain paths. Wear shoes with good grip and carry water (KoreaClear advice).
  • At 4.6 km, this is the shortest of the 21 Seoul Trail routes.
  • Yongmasan Fort No. 5 is an old fort site where the Mangusan and Achasan ridges meet; it is now a heliport (official information).

Two more Achasan trails

We also cover two trails from Gwangjin-gu’s official hiking map: the Achasan Fortress Trail (about 50 min) and the Achasan–Yongmasan Ridge Hike (about 2 hr 10 min). They follow different paths from this route.
