I lost something in Korea. What should I do?
Short answer
Contact the last likely place, then search the police found-item service if it is not there.
What to do
- Write down a description, last known place and approximate date and time.
- Contact the shop, restaurant, accommodation or transport operator that may have it. If already abroad, contact them remotely or ask your hotel for help.
- Search the police found-item service and ask the local police how to report the loss if necessary.
If that doesn't work
- If the police site is hard to use because it is mainly in Korean, call 1330 (Korea Travel Hotline) for interpretation.
- If your passport is missing, follow the lost-passport guide. If payment cards are missing, freeze them through your bank.
Check before relying on this
- The last location may be uncertain, so check transport as well as venues when relevant.
- The police portal is mainly Korean and reporting online may require sign-in; recovery or overseas delivery is not guaranteed.
