How do I get from Seoul to Incheon Airport?
Short answer
Take AREX from Seoul Station, Hongik University or Gongdeok. Choose the correct ICN terminal. For a very early flight, check overnight transport before relying on the first train.
Work backwards from your airline’s check-in deadline. A timetable is not a guaranteed airport arrival.
What to do
- Confirm Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 on your booking and with your airline. Work backwards from its check-in and bag-drop deadlines.
- Choose the station easiest to reach from your hotel. At Hongik University and Gongdeok, use All-stop; Express only serves Seoul Station and the airport terminals.
- Follow signs for your chosen AREX service and an airport-bound train serving your terminal. Use a transit card or single-journey ticket for All-stop; buy a separate ticket for Express.
- Check departures for your travel date. Add walking, waiting, transfers and airport procedures to the train journey; recheck first or last services if travelling early or late.
If that doesn't work
- If no train leaves early enough for your flight, check the overnight bus N6701, or arrange a confirmed pickup or an airport-area stay.
Check before relying on this
- A timetable alone does not prove you will make your flight. Exact early-morning, late-night and hotel-specific plans require the boarding stop, travel date, terminal and airline deadline.
- Gimpo Airport is not Incheon Airport. Check the train destination and get off at your flight’s ICN terminal.
- The fares and journey times above are examples checked on 1 October 2026; recheck the operator before travelling.

From Myeongdong
Take Line 4 to Seoul Station, then follow AREX / Airport Railroad signs. Choose All-stop or Express before following their separate boarding directions. Alternatively, check airport bus 6015 from its airport-bound Myeongdong stop.
From Hongik University, Gongdeok or Mapo
At Hongik University or Gongdeok, board All-stop directly; you do not need to go to Seoul Station or change at Gimpo. From a Mapo hotel, compare reaching Gongdeok with bus 6015, which serves Gongdeok and Mapo (Seoul Garden Hotel). Rail avoids road-traffic uncertainty; the easier option depends on your hotel and luggage.
From Gyeongbokgung Palace
One rail option is to walk to nearby Gwanghwamun Station, take Line 5 to Gongdeok, and transfer to AREX All-stop. Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung are different stations. This route combines the connections shown by the official tourism and rail sources; it is not a guaranteed fastest itinerary.
All-stop fare examples
Adult transit-card fares from Seoul Station are ₩4,750 to T1 or ₩5,350 to T2; from Hongik University or Gongdeok, ₩4,650 or ₩5,250. Starting at another subway station may change the total. Adult single-journey tickets add ₩100 plus a refundable ₩500 deposit.
Express or airport bus?
Express takes 43 minutes from Seoul Station to T1 or 51 minutes to T2, excluding access and airport procedures. Bus 6015 can reduce station transfers if its stop suits your hotel. On the operator’s page, select your actual stop and the airport direction for the timetable. Seoul boarding is first-come, with cash or transit-card payment; do not assume a reserved seat.
Flying early? Check overnight transport first
Do not assume the first train or daytime bus will reach ICN early enough. Confirm your terminal and airline’s check-in deadline, then check the airport-bound timetable for your boarding stop. N6701 serves DDP and Euljiro Entrance Station near Myeongdong on its way to both ICN terminals. If no verified service leaves enough time, arrange a confirmed pickup or an airport-area stay with a confirmed transfer.
After midnight means the next calendar day
For a morning flight, a bus after midnight leaves on the flight date; a bus before midnight leaves the previous evening. Check the departure date and both terminal arrival times. Allow for the walk to the stop, boarding, traffic and weather. An old bus time or an estimated arrival is not a guarantee.
