How do I check whether my bank card is suitable for a Korea trip?
Short answer
Check your card network, overseas fees and withdrawal limits with your issuer, and carry an independent backup. For example, Monzo and Capital One 360 publish their overseas fees, but neither guarantees acceptance at every Korean ATM.
What to do
- Identify the card country, account tier and Visa/Mastercard or other network.
- Check overseas use, cash limits, PIN and fees in the issuer’s official account help.
- Bring a separately stored backup payment method and test a small transaction on arrival.

- A fee-free issuer policy does not mean every ATM withdrawal is free or approved.
