How should I prepare SIM, power and communication options for the trip?
Short answer
You can buy a physical SIM at an airport or selected shops, or order an eSIM online for a compatible phone. Check whether the product supplies only data or also the Korean voice/SMS service you need.
What to do
- Check that the phone is unlocked and supports the exact SIM/eSIM product; install only using the sellerās activation instructions.
- Compare data-only with Korean voice/SMS if your intended taxi or booking service requires a number.
- For the ten-day solo trip, compare the exact Klook voucher with airport-counter purchase: network, usable days, data allowance, voice/SMS, activation trigger, collection terminal/hours and refund terms. Pre-order if those details fit; choose a staffed airport counter if you need installation help. This is a decision framework, not a claim one channel is always cheaper.
- Before departure, install NAVER Map for directions and Papago for translation; save your accommodation address in Korean and test translating text or a menu image. KTO lists both among useful travel apps. For a taxi app, complete its own registration/payment check before relying on it.
- Save key addresses before activating and keep the sellerās support contact available offline.
- Korea uses 220 V at 60 Hz and sockets with two round holes. Check each deviceās input label; a plug adapter changes the plug shape, not voltage. Bring suitable charging equipment for your devices.
Check before relying on this
- Check compatibility with your own phone and devices before purchasing a travel product.

Choose the seller and pickup method
KT, SK Telecom and LG U+ operate roaming centres, while retailers and online sellers also offer products. Pre-order airport pickup and digital delivery are different options; network branding alone does not establish the planās features.
