Where can I exchange money in Korea โ€” at Incheon, regional airports or in the city?

Short answer

Incheon Airport has 24-hour exchange counters. Regional airports such as Gimhae (Busan) and Cheongju open only in bank hours or around flight times, so a late arrival may leave you unable to exchange. In the city, use a bank or a money changer registered with Korea Customs.

What to do
  1. Check which airport you land at and what time.
  2. Landing late at a regional airport? Bring some won from home or plan to use an airport ATM.
  3. In the city, use a bank (weekdays) or a registered money changer that shows its sign and rates.
  4. Compare the actual won you will receive, not just the advertised rate.

If that doesn't work

  • Counter closed? Try an airport ATM that accepts your card.
  • Not sure a changer is registered? Use a bank or an airport counter instead.
Check before relying on this
  • Gimhae international terminal lists one bank counter, open 09:00โ€“16:00.
  • There is no official comparison of airport and city rates.
  • Bank branches are generally open only on weekdays, 09:00โ€“16:00.
