How do I transfer at Incheon Airport, and where can I rest during a long layover?
Short answer
If your bags go through to your next flight and you have a boarding pass, follow the green 'Transfer' signs, pass transfer security screening and go to your gate. For long waits, the 4th-floor transit area has rest zones, shower rooms and a transit hotel you can use without entering Korea.
What to do
- Ask your airline whether your bags are checked through to your final destination and whether you will get the onward boarding pass.
- After landing, follow the green 'Transfer' signs to transfer security screening. No boarding pass? Go to the transfer desk.
- Check your departure gate and terminal; allow extra time if you must change between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
- For a long wait, use the 4th-floor rest zones, shower rooms or transit hotel. To leave the airport you must be allowed to enter Korea.
If that doesn't work
- No onward boarding pass? Transfer desk: 2nd floor before security or 4th floor after.
- Questions: Incheon Airport Customer Service 1577-2600.
Check before relying on this
- Shuttle train between the Concourse and the terminals: once you board, you can't go back.
- Liquids in hand luggage: containers of 100 ml or less in one 1 L clear bag; keep duty-free liquids sealed in the duty-free bag.
- Separate tickets: you must collect and re-check your bags, which means entering Korea.
- Incheon Airport sets no minimum connection time; ask your airline.
