Where can I use free Wi-Fi in Korea?
Short answer
Free public Wi-Fi is available in public places such as airports, subway and train stations, some bus stops and buses. Choose “Public WiFi Free” in your Wi-Fi list, then tap the button to use it on the connection page.
What to do
- In your phone's Wi-Fi settings, find and select “Public WiFi Free”.
- Open your default web browser and tap the button to use Public Wi-Fi on the connection page.
- If you see “Public WiFi Secure” (with a lock icon), choose it instead. The username and password are both wifi. Your data is encrypted, so it is safer.
Check before relying on this
- The connection ends automatically every hour. Just connect again; there is no limit on reconnecting.
- On Wi-Fi without security, avoid banking, payments and logins. Don't use Wi-Fi when you don't know who set it up.
- Some places have a weak signal or none. Save your accommodation address and maps before you go.

Finding Wi-Fi spots
The official map at wififree.kr (Korean and English) and the official “Public WiFi” app show where you can connect. Cafés and PC rooms are also good places to get online, and most PC rooms are open 24 hours.
