Will my charger work in Korea?
Short answer
Check your charger’s label against Korea’s 220 V, 60 Hz supply and check the plug shape. A plug adapter does not change voltage.
A plug that fits does not prove electrical compatibility, especially for high-power appliances.
Practical next steps
- Read the INPUT label on the charger itself, not only the phone model or plug shape. Compare it with Korea’s 220 V, 60 Hz supply and check grounding requirements.
- If the rating is missing or unclear, ask the manufacturer before use. A plug adapter changes the connection shape, not the voltage; check high-power appliances separately.
Korean message to show or send
이 충전기의 입력 전압과 주파수가 한국 전원에 맞나요? 플러그 어댑터 외에 필요한 것이 있나요?
Fill in any blanks, show it, and check the reply you get.
What to do
- Read the input-voltage and frequency label on the charger or device.
- Check the plug shape and any grounding requirements.
- If anything is unclear, consult the manufacturer before plugging it in.
If that doesn't work
- If the label does not list 220 V, use a voltage converter or a charger made for 220 V. A plug adapter alone is not enough.
Check before relying on this
- The Korea power standard does not tell you whether your particular charger is compatible. Check its input label and the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Do not assume a high-power appliance works with a simple travel adapter.
